One of this archive's greatest benefits is that you can see the original context in which a story ran including layout, graphics and photos. Another great thing about the Colorado Press Association system lies in its archival value. This was driven home for me one night when I was on deadline and had to find a story that for some reason didn't appear in Nexis or Factiva.

We switched to ArcaSearch through ColorMax for our archiving service after using Stouffer Library System, which included text only, for 8 years. ArcaSearch provides us with the actual pages of the paper, as they appeared in print, with a wide range of search capabilities. ColorMax also made it possible to show any corrections made so that past mistakes would not be repeated.

ArcaSearch allows our reporters to research any subject from any source that appeared in our paper. Previously, local stories were the only ones included in our archives; stories from the Associated Press or other syndicated services were not. Another asset is the search-ability of advertisements and more, which allows the archive service to be used by other departments of the paper.

Research possibilities grew exponentially when we began using ArcaSearch.
